What area of living space am I going to lose if I install an enzie Spiral Stair? The space taken up by an enzie spiral stair will depend entirely on the size stair you choose. It can be as small as one square meter or as large as four square meters. This space is taken up on both floors. To determine the actual space used, you may use the free design service. This will give you all the measurements you need plus a design of the layout on both levels.
Will my staircase comply with the building regulations?Yes, the BCC has determined that the enzie spiral stair complies with the requirements of Clause DP2(c), DP3 Vol 1 and P2.5(b), P2.5.2 Vol 2 of the BCA. ’96 as adopted by the Building Regulations, (provided you use a stair suitable for the application). This applies equally to all states. Refer to relevant data sheets for building permit application approval. Follow the procedure set out on the enzie data sheets.
You can take advantage of the free design service we provide to help you with this process.
How high can enzie go?An enzie spiral stair is made to suit your floor to floor height. There is no limit to the height you can go. However, building authorities may require a landing every 18 rises.

Is the landing supplied?Internal enzie spiral stair landings are constructed from 90mm x 45mm pine framing with particle board on top. This material is not normally supplied unless enzie has arranged installation. In this case, the landing is fixed, but not lined or trimmed. Pre-fabricated steel landings may be used inside but a template is necessary to ensure the accuracy of the fabrication.
External spiral stairs can be fitted with a timber landing as an extension of a timber deck or with a pre-fabricated steel landing.
Is a deposit requiredNo deposit is needed, however, payment before delivery is required.
When is the ideal time to install? As the enzie spiral stair is pre-finished, the best time to install it is after all the dirty trades are finished and after the plastering is complete; that is, at the fixing out stage.
External spiral stairs can be fitted with a timber landing as an extension of a timber deck or with a pre-fabricated steel landing.
Are enzie spiral stairs weatherproof? For external use enzie spiral stairs are galvanized before being powder coated. However, as with any metal articles exposed to weather, preventative maintenance procedures must be followed to minimize corrosion problems. Refer to enzie Fact Sheet Cleaning and Maintenance of Steel Spiral Stairs. In severe marine environments aluminium or stainless steel should be considered.
Can I put a gate on my spiral stair?Of course! enzie can supply top or bottom gates with lock and key. They come with installation instructions.
Are steel spiral stairs noisy? Not the enzie spiral stairs! Perfectly fitted folded steel components and soft tread pads make the spiral stair as quiet as a carpeted stair.

Can I install an enzie spiral stair myself?Of course! Any competent handyman or builder would be able to follow our installation instructions for our spiral stair. Help is always just a phone call away. enzie also offer an installation service in all capital cities and many provincial areas.
What footing will I need?Timber and concrete floors are adequate (as shown on the data sheet). External stairs need concrete footing for both the column and bottom post.
